Students can transfer The Graduate Advisor may approve coursework waivers for up to 6 credit hours (two courses) of graduate level coursework from another institutionon the PhD program of work. Master's degree seeking students may officially transfer coursework taken at other institutions if the courses were not used toward another degree. 

It is common for BME doctoral students who earned a master's degree at another institution to waive up to 6 credit hours of coursework. To obtain approval to use transfer coursework towards your BME Graduate Programwaive coursework:

  • Obtain a syllabus for each course you want to count towards your program
  • Email Send a copy of your previous graduate transcript to the Graduate Advisor with the syllabi and which program requirements you would like for them to count towardsPlease note: credits approved for transfer will not be documented on the UT transcript. Identify the BME PhD coursework requirement(s) you want waived and the course(s) you took previously that meet that requirement.
  • You may be asked to supply a syllabus for each course.
  • Waived requirements do not imply the transfer of credits, so no transfers will be documented on your UT transcript.

Transfer approvals are kept by the Graduate Coordinator. If the Graduate Advisor approves transfer a coursework waiver, ensure a copy of the approval email documentation is forwarded to the Graduate AdvisorCoordinator.
