Enter prior owners as Provenance Related constituents

Link previous owners as far back to creation date as possible.

Assign either of these Roles:

Previous owner: collectors

Dealer: constituent is a dealer/gallery

Dates

Enter dates of ownership change in begin and end ISO datesBegin ISO date for the beginning of a persons' ownership and End ISO date for the sale/gift date by the owner. Enter an exact date if known, or year. Then click to select the most appropriate display dateDisplay Date; in most cases that will be the yyyy-yyyy format. You must select or enter a display date Display Date or this may appear empty in reports. If automated options in Display Date do not meet your needs, you may enter a custom value.

For new acquisitions, prioritize most recent owner prior to accession by BMA. If exact dates of ownership change are not known, enter year estimate and leave notes about the accuracy of the dates in remarks 

Public Provenance

Under acquisition cataloguing, you may enter standardized text of provenance that is approved for public information. For anonymous donors, this is where you might replace the actual constituent name with "Private Collection." Follow AAMD guidelines for listing provenance.
