  1. Export the .stl file in your 3D modeling software of choice.
  2. Create a free account at shapeways.com and click the "Upload" button to test your .stl file.  If the model gets a green check mark for "White Strong & Flexible Plastic", then we shouldn't have any problems printing your file. When you see an image of your model appear in the window at the top of the Shapeways page, that does not necessarily mean your file has passed all quality checks. It may take a few minutes for those checks to complete! The photo below shows an example of a file that has passed all quality checks on Shapeways.

  3. Bring your prepared file on a thumb drive to the Service Desk to be approved and priced. Upload a screenshot of your Shapeways results page to the thumb drive as well. If a staff member finds something wrong with your model but you wish to proceed, you will not be eligible for a refund.
    1. Please note that our software only allows us to confirm that your model is closed polygon, meaning we can only see the outside faces of the object. If there is an issue with the internal structure, we may not be able to notify you at the time of submission. Please review the model submission guidelines for more information.
  4. When your file is submitted for printing by the desk staff, you will receive an email about its completion.
  5. You will pay for your model at pickup via Bevobucks or What I Owe.
