To use CLAN to strip an entire folder of CHA Files, we need to go through a series of steps that involve preparing the input folder before running some scripts.

1 | Create copy of input folder with all the CHA files. | Find the input folder with the patients' CHA files like this: Copy the entire folder so that there is a back-up in the case that there is an issue with this process. Create a subfolder in the input folder and name it “stripped”. Image Added |
2 | Open Clan and set directories. | Now we will begin working inside of the Clan software itself: Open Clan so that you get to its home window. Here, you will see multiple tabs at the top (i.e., File, Edit, View, Window, Help). Click Window. Click Commands. Click on “working” and then select the input folder before clicking “<- Select directory”. Image AddedClick on “output” and then click the “stripped” folder that you made in Step 1. Then click “<- Select directory”.

3 | Enter the script. | We will now enter the script in: Type into the textbox “chat2text”. Image AddedClick on “File In” and then “Add All” to populate the right box with all the files from the input folder and then click on “Done”. Image AddedPress “Run”.

4 | Check the output. | Go to the “stripped” folder you made in Step 1. Check that the output files are there and that they match with the number that you were expecting. |
