Questions to ask with every gift of books
- Was it acquired with an archives?
- What is the gift agreement - conditions, donor expectations (formal or informal)
- Will the donor be claiming a tax deduction? if yes, we must retain for 3 years before discard
- Is it a general collection or subject specific collection?
- Does it merit a full bibliography (Zotero)? (Regadrless of whether we decide to add all books to our collection)
- Does it merit a provenance note?
- Do we foresee placement in general collection? Special collection?
- Is this the entire library? Do we expect future gifts?
- Does gift come with monetary support?
