Sent the Mechanical email to Bill and Brian
Mech leads please draft up responses to anything you want to respond to
I have created NextGen PVDR, VDR, Battery, BPS, and Array Technical Documents in Sharepoint. As soon as we are able to submit these forms, we should do so.
I want Mechanical to submit PVDR as soon as possible after PDR, so as you make decisions I think it would be best to slowly fill in PVDR
I’ve been noticing lately that workday attendance isn’t the greatest. A pretty sizable portion of people are missing every workday which concerns me, especially when as we start to approach major deadlines. What do y’all think we can do to help fix this problem?
Emech reorg: what do we want to do?
Ishan, Jason, Advait, and I worked on the array calculations. They are pushed in the GitHub under the “Vehicle Model” repository. Though our model was probably not accurate, the general conclusion we came to was that the added weight of increasing the area of the topshell

🧑🏭 Body:
Updates
Driver measuring happening this weekend
1st frame iteration set to finish Saturday → sims soon
Composite research/knowledge base progressing
Week Plan
Frame
Compile next steps for composites research
Ansys learning → start in week, formally happening this/next workday
Keep working on 1st iteration

Begin steering wheel research → design plan soon
Upcoming Deadlines
- - Driver measurements taken
- Nov 9, 2024 - Frame 1st iteration done
- Nov 16, 2024 - Roll cage position/dimensions set
🔩 Dynamics:
Updates
Unsprung - Worked on solving loads on the hub axle
Suspension - Each member was given a part of suspension to look further into
Steering - Created a decision matrix for steering racks and upper steering architecture
Week Plan
Unsprung:
Finalize brakes, and rotor configuration
Caliper and motor mount for Swingarm
Choose Bearings
Finalize hub size for horizontal stackup
Steering:
Bump Steer design optimization
Talk to Jacob on how to fix his code. Try to look through the actual math to see if there is an error going on there
Suspension:
Have an understanding on how to solve for forces in components – control arms, pushrods, bell crank
Something I’m trying this week
New structure of dynamics meeting where members post their updates with a photo. Allows everyone to learn a little bit more about the other subsystems along with progress photos. It also allows for them to have smth to put on their portfolio. I want thoughts on this
Sleeping maybe? Have not been hitting this deadline
What I need from other systems
For one person who is going to pickle. I would like to find the amount the steering rack moves for 360 degrees of rotation of the steering wheel. To do this, I need someone to mark the steering rack (something that will rotate from the steering) and something that is static with the steering rack. Can explain better in person.
Can someone who has access to add people to Github add Sohan Kureti to solar Github?
Upcoming Deadlines
- - Reference sketch with unfinalized hardpoints - General/Harshit
- - Mock uprights and hubs (already have a hub+axle design) - Unsprung
- - Steering rack selected - Steering
