LAITS-Warehouse Program Overview

The LAITS-Warehouse program supports departments in urgent situations where a computer is needed immediately. This includes cases where a device is damaged or when a new staff member starts, and no prior computer purchase was made. To prevent unapproved purchases through methods such as ProCard, LAITS maintains a stock of UT Standard laptops available for rapid deployment.

The deployment process is designed to be fast and efficient. With minimal paperwork, departments can often secure a device on the same day, ensuring continuity and minimal disruption for the end user.

Please Note:

The LAITS-Warehouse program is intended only for extenuating circumstances where a computer is not readily available for new staff. Departments are still expected to follow the standard purchasing procedures for incoming employees, as outlined in the Computer Purchasing Procedure wiki article.

What happens next

1. Request Submission via ServiceNow

Once you've chosen the desired LAITS-owned computer, you will need to submit a request through the ServiceNow portal.

2. Processing Your Request

  • After your request is submitted, it will be routed to the LAITS administrative and inventory teams.

  • Simultaneously, your department's admin will also receive the request.

  • Both teams will collaborate to complete the necessary documentation and approvals for purchase from LAITS.

3. Documentation and Approval

The LAITS admin team, together with your department's admin, will ensure all the necessary paperwork is completed for your department to move forward with the purchase.

4. Purchase Process Completion

Once the documentation is finalized, you will receive confirmation of the next steps from your department admin.

5. Receiving Your Device

After the purchase is completed, the device will be prepared and delivered to the appropriate department. You and the end user will receive updates on the expected delivery timeline via ServiceNow.
