Accessing the share folder through File Explorer

Open Windows File Explorer by clicking on the folder icon on the taskbar

In the address bar at the top of the window type in \\engr-scan.austin.utexas.edu\Scanners\ME-ETC-5-226-Canon and press Enter


Double-Click the folder where your scan is located. (ie: All-Staff folder for all non-faculty staff members)


Mapping the scan folder to a persistent drive

Open Windows File Explorer by clicking on the folder icon on the taskbar

In the File Explorer window select "This PC" on the left-hand side and then click on "Map Network Drive" under the Computer tab.


In the "Map Network Drive" dialog box:

  1. Select the drive letter that you want the folder mapped to (Windows defaults to Z, but you can select any letter in the drop down)
  2. Enter the path to the folder you want to map
    1. For non-faculty staff, use \\engr-scan.austin.utexas.edu\Scanners\ME-ETC-5-226-Canon\All-Staff
    2. For faculty, use \\engr-scan.austin.utexas.edu\Scanners\ME-ETC-5-226-Canon\All-Faculty
  3. To make the drive persistent so that it is always available, check this box to reconnect when you login.
  4. Press Finish.


To verify the folder is mapped properly go back to File Explorer and select "This PC" and you should see the mapped drive listed under the C: drive
