The candidate shall review the list of review committee members (Section D.10) to identify actual and potential conflicts of interest (COIs). The COIs should be expressed to, and resolved by, the dean, per Section D.5, before promotion review begins.

Similarly, if the candidate perceives COIs with their department chair or dean, those COIs should be shared with the relevant supervisor (i.e., shared with the dean for a potential COI with the department chair, and with the Provost’s Office for a potential COI with the dean or a member of the president’s committee).

In all cases, decisions about whether an individual should be recused from review because of a COI will be made before review begins. The candidate may place a statement in the Additional Statements folder (Section G.12) to document any COI concerns about internal reviewers, if the conflict is not resolved to their satisfaction.
