Upgrade your UT EID

  • Access to university online applications requires an electronic ID (UT EID) and password, plus multi-factor authentication (see below).
  • Upgrade your UT EID - many online services of The University of Texas at Austin are restricted and can only be accessed by those with upgraded UT EIDs.

Create an enterprise email account

  • University business conducted via email is through Office 365 (Microsoft platform).
  • Login to Office 365 Management with your UT EID and password, which will take you to the "Create My Mailbox" page.
  • Your new email address will end in "@austin.utexas.edu"
  • Notify Carla Lanas (clanas@austin.utexas.edu) and Marsha Berkman (berkman@austin.utexas.edu) of your new email address.

Authorize Criminal Background Check

  • The university requires a criminal background check, including a sex offender registry check, on applicants for employment, current employees, and university affiliates as required by university policy and state and federal requirements.
  • The type of check performed will vary according to the position.
  • You'll receive an email from the Background Check Administration requesting electronic authorization to conduct the background check.

Accept invitation to join the department's Smartsheet account

  • You'll receive an invitation from Smartsheet to join our account; we use this online app to manage lab purchasing and other workflows.
  • Click on the link in the Smartsheet notification to create a password.
  • Note:  your enterprise email address + the password you created become your Smartsheet login credentials.
  • You are added to our Smartsheet account as a free user; please do not sign up for a free trial for a Smartheet license.

View your home page in Workday

  • The university uses the human capital management tool Workday to process appointments, time sheets, performance evaluations, and other personnel tasks.
  • Login to Workday to explore your home page.  Note items under the heading "Awaiting your Action."  This is your inbox, with tasks for you to complete.
  • You may also access your inbox by clicking on the inbox icon (upper right).
  • Navigate back to the home page by clicking on the University of Texas logo (upper left).
  • Workday is upgraded every six months, so items on the home page may change.
