C.    In Case of Fire

Extinguishers

Sanger Learning Center has five (5) fire extinguishers.  They are located in the outer hall of A332A (to the right of the front door), in the outer hall of A319A (to the right of the kitchen door), at the end of the hall by A303A, at the end of the hall by A315 near the stairs, and inside A315 on the pillar to the right as you walk in.

Maintenance

Fire extinguishers are maintained and/or replaced annually by UT Fire Prevention Services, (512) 495-3637. Our current contact is Roosevelt Easley, Fire Safety Specialist, (512) 471-7989.  He can help with evacuation drills and extinguisher training.

Evacuation

Use the nearest stairwell from your office.  Grab only what you need and leave the building immediately.  Please notify the hall monitor that you are out of your office on your way out.  They will waste time if they have to double check for you.

Please go down the stairs until they empty out on the first floor and proceed out of the building.  Please do not stop outside the building.  Proceed across the street and meet everyone else at the entrance to Gregory Gym. Do not return to Jester until the all clear has been given.

Those who are unable to rapidly evacuate the building should move to a stairwell landing and wait for assistance from trained first responders. Elevators should not be used in the case of fire. Hall monitors should inform first responders and the University of Texas Police Department (UTPD) of persons who have not been evacuated.

Hall Monitors

In the A332A suite, the hall evacuation monitors are Claire and Nisha.  Down the main outer hall (A319A-A327A), the hall evacuation monitors are Pam and Hilary.  Down the other hall (A303A-A315A), the hall evacuation monitor is Ed.

D.   Student Emergencies

Panic Buttons

Sanger Learning Center has seven (7) panic buttons.  They are located in the following offices:  A332A (Front Desk), A335A (office), A345A (office),  A322A (office),  A315A (Front Desk), A316A (office), and A312A (office).

Maintenance

Panic buttons are tested monthly.  The Sanger Learning Center must initiate the testing by calling UT Police.

Forms

In order for Sanger Learning Center panic buttons to be recognized, we are required to fill out a UT Alarm Administration form.  This form is required to be submitted in September for the following fiscal year.

4.    Pushing the Panic Button

When you push the panic button, the UT Police Department (UTPD) will respond immediately.  The Calvary is coming!

If for some reason you push the button by mistake, please call UTPD at (512) 471-4441 and tell them the button was pushed by mistake.  They will ask you for your name and your code.  Your personal code is the one you use to unlock doors with at the Sanger Learning Center.  It is your personal six digit number.
