My approximation of the nautilus gear’s motion allows for some interesting graphs and relationships to be drawn from the analysis. Knowing that the position is cubically related to input angle, we can solve for the velocities and accelerations that are quadratically and linearly related. However, it should be pointed out that the wing tip accelerations have interesting graphs because of the trigonometric, nonlinear relationship for getting the velocities and the accelerations.
