The Peek-a-Bear mechanism emulates a bear peeking in and out of his hands. His arms cover his face in one position, and he surprises you in the next. The mechanism uses a crank to incite motion of two links within the bear's body. The first link runs from the crank through a slot and is attached to the next link. The second link, attached at the bottom to the first link, also runs through a slot to produce the "neck" of the bear. The motion of the second link creates movement of the head, opening and closing the bear's mouth in excitement. The second link is also attached to the arms. The arms are two separate links attached at the same height on the second link, they run through their respective slots to produce the "peek-a-boo" motion.
