I chose to create the 5-Bar Slotted Slider, or Mechanism #1 in the project description. In order to translate this 2D design into 3D, the links have to be at different heights. I chose to have the base and slider block be at the lowest level, with the first and third link be above those. This leaves the slotted link at the highest level.
The mechanism seems to be a quick return mechanism, based on the fact that the end of the input link gets very close to the middle pin, which would cause the slotted link to swing around quickly. Due to this, it will be important to have smooth and stable movement to prevent binding or links detaching at high speeds.
