Mobility Calculation

High Velocity Joint

The High Velocity joint shown is the most prominent velocity profile in our mechanism because it will carry the card at our targeted velocity. This joint translates the lower velocity input of our mechanism into a higher velocity that allows the card to travel further and faster. This is essential to the forceful snap of the card, and thus the abrupt flinging of the card that occurs due to the static body that the arm will run into in the final mechanism.

Snapping Joint

The Snapping Joint shown creates a rapid swing of the mechanism that mimics a finger tip throwing a card. The card will be stuck to the mechanism at this joint via sticky tack, and the rapid motion of this joint will be halted abruptly to overcome the adhesive force of the sticky tack.
