Departmental Vehicles
The Department of Theatre and Dance currently operates a Dodge Caravan minivan that can be used strictly for departmental use and official university business.
Driver Approval
To check out a departmental van you must first be an approved driver based on the university guidelines.
Approved van drivers must be:
- An active staff, faculty, or a student employed with the university
- In good standing with their driving record
- In possession of a valid Texas driver's license
- If you do not currently have a Texas driver's license, information on how to obtain one can be found here: https://www.dps.texas.gov/section/driver-license/how-apply-texas-driver-license
In order to become an approved driver of the minivan you must complete the following steps:
- Contact your direct supervisor and TADFacilities@utexas.edu , to sign up for the online course.
- Pass the online course and submit your summary/certificate of completion to TADFacilities@utexas.edu along with a photo of the front of you current Texas driver's license number.
- Vehicle approval is valid for three years, unless your license is suspended, revoked, or an equivalent disqualification.
Van Reservation
Approved drivers may reserve and check out the departmental vans by submitting a request to TADFacilities@utexas.edu. Reservations cannot be made more than 2 weeks in advance, and may require justification for use. Reservations requested less than 48 hours from the time of use may not be able to be accommodated.
There is an official log to track mileage and usage that you will be given with the keys, and you are responsible to accurately fill out the form for each time you use the van. Neglecting to follow procedure may result in revocation of privileges to drive the vans.
Vans are for daytime check out only during Winship office hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM). They can be used after hours for official university business, but such a request must be coordinated in advance.
You must always have a valid reason to use departmental vehicles, i.e. official university business.
