Associate Academic Advisor

Duties include:

Academic Advising

•  Advise 325-375 undergraduate T&D majors

•  Advise prospective applicants/non-majors regarding transfer processes and course selection

•  Serve as liaison between TD students, administration and community members by responding to inquiries sent from TD faculty, other institutions, community members, or redirecting information from the community to students.

•  Coordinate mandatory registration advising for T&D department twice yearly

•  Assist T&D Faculty and Staff with planning departmental undergraduate curriculum offerings each semester

•  Degree audit evaluation and oversight

•  Contact students experiencing academic difficulty and meet individually with these students to provide academic and developmental counseling.

•  Write letters on behalf of students for financial aid, veteran's benefits, scholarship applications, graduate school applications, etc.

•  Maintain current & former student files for Theatre and Dance majors, including updating electronic files with Advisor Toolkit.

 

 Administrative Duties

•  Process departmental adds/drops during first 12 class days each semester

•  Facilitate undergraduate student registration for undergraduate T&D courses that require instructor consent

•  Coordinate and co-facilitate the First-Year Interest Group each fall semester

 

Admissions/Prospective Students

•  Serve as departmental liaison to UT Admissions Office

•  Serve as liaison between department and other UT offices and events: Family Weekend, Honor’s Day, fall and spring commencement, Academic Counselors Association, National Academic Advising Association, UT Advising Expo, Honor’s Colloquium

•  Coordinate internal transfer (major changer) application process for current UT students

•  Plan & co-facilitate COFA’s New Student Orientation program during Spring and Summer semesters

•  Supply reports, statistical data and information to the department and college administration regarding undergraduate program needs, course offerings, course enrollment, matriculation reports and related student data
