2D Contours

This operation follows line work to mill a cut fully through a flat-sheet of stock.

  • Flat-Sheet Milling
  • Pocket Clearing

Tool Bit Library

Proper feeds and speeds is required to maintain a clean bit. Notify Technology Desk if bits shows any signs of wear.

2-Flute Flat-End-Mill Bit

Flat-end bits are designed to cut a singular plane of material using the side of the bit.

Used in roughing operations to remove the bulk of material.

These bits are not designed to drill downwards, and would require a ramp or spiral approach.

4-Flute Ball-Nose Bit

Ball-nose bits are designed for drilling and milling both.

When milling foam topography you may use a Ball-Nose bit for both roughing and finishing.

When milling wood topography you must use a Flat-End-Mill bit for roughing and the Ball-Nose bit for finishing. Ball-Nose bits should not be used for roughing wood

Great for topography and fine detail 2.5D contouring.

V-Groove Bit

V-groove bits come in many different degrees, the school offers 45° and 90° options for checkout

Often used for carving, engraving, and sign design operations.
