Effective September 1st, 2023, the salary rate minimums for graduate student employment are as follows:

Basic definitions for Doctoral vs. Master's, per ADR Dr. Alex Loukas:

Graduate students who have a master’s degree should receive the “doctoral” rate of pay.  Graduate students who do not have a master’s degree should receive the “masters” rate of pay. We recognize that there may be some exceptions here. If a student has conducted substantial research (an honors thesis or master’s report), you may place them into the category of receiving “doctoral” pay even if they do not have a master’s degree.

Previously, effective 9.1.2022 these salary minimums in our college were:

  • TA - Masters = $30,9K, 9 month annual rate ($3,433 monthly)
  • TA - Doctoral = $39,140, 9 month annual rate ($4,349 monthly)
  • AI - Doctoral = $41,2K, 9 month annual rate ($4,578 monthly)
  • GRA - Masters = $41,2K, 12 month annual rate ($3,433 monthly)
  • GRA - Doctoral = $52,187, 12 month annual rate ($4,349 monthly)

Previously, effective 9.1.2021 these salary minimums in our college were:

  • TA - Masters = $30K, 9 month annual rate ($3,333 monthly)
  • TA - Doctoral = $38K, 9 month annual rate ($4,222 monthly)
  • AI - Doctoral = $40K, 9 month annual rate ($4,444 monthly)
  • GRA - Masters = $40K, 12 month annual rate ($3,333 monthly)
  • GRA - Doctoral = $50,667, 12 month annual rate ($4,222 monthly)

Previously, effective 9.1.2020 for doctoral students, these salary minimums in our college were:

  • TA = $28K, 9 month annual rate ($3,111.11 monthly)
  • AI = $30K, 9 month annual rate ($3,333.33 monthly)
  • GRA = $40K, 12 month annual rate ($3,333.33 monthly)
