qPCR FAQ


1.  What is the website URL to sign up for time on the real-time calendar?
        http://fbs.icmb.utexas.edu  This is the DNA sequencing website.  If you do not have a login email a request to DNA Facility Staff.  Go to the "Core Calendar" under "Other Tools."  Request access to the ABI ViiA7 instruments.  After you read and sign the usage policy and go over the instrument with a member of the DNA Facility staff, you will be granted access to the calendar.
 2.  How long does a run take?
    A typical run takes ~1.5 hours.  If you are running a dissociation curve, the run is ~2.25 hours.  Remember to block off enough time for plate setup on the machine.
3.  How should I save my data?
    After the completion of your run click on File-Save As.  This will let you save your run to anywhere on the computer.  Please save the data to your designated user folder and to some other type of media (CD, flash drive, web space) that you can take with you.  We do not guarantee data storage and routinely delete files.  Make sure you take your data with you after a run!
4.  How can I analyze my data?
    Data can be analyzed on the instrument for by installing the software on a PC.  Software can be downloaded from LifeTech website.
