Linux Accounts

Accounts are automatically created for new users with a small(200GB) home directory. Additionally space is allocated for projects which are assigned by faculty and staff

Logging In

• Your Username and Password will be the same as your EID.

• Off-Campus: You must either use the campus VPN or create a SSH Key.

• Recommended clients:

  • Putty: Windows SSH client

  • X2GO: GUI server for windows and OSX

  • Mobaxterm: GUI (Xwindows) or command line(ssh) for Windows.

  • ssh: Command line utility available on OSXand Linux. Example “ssh EID@MACHINE.geo.utexas.edu”
