There are numerous resources available to support your well-being during tough times. Below, you'll find information about the Counseling and Mental Health Center, which is available to all currently enrolled students at UT Austin.
About CMHC
The Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) provides mental health support through assessment and referral, group and individual counseling, psychiatry and well-being services to the students of UT Austin.

CMHC Staff
The professional staff includes licensed clinicians from various mental health disciplines, such as licensed professional counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers.
The staff also includes post-graduate clinicians working toward licensure, as well as graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in psychology or social work. These clinicians provide mental health services under the supervision of licensed clinical staff.

Crisis Services
24/7 Crisis Line | 512-471-CALL (2255)
Immediate in-person and phone appointments with a crisis counselor are available through CMHC, Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Clinical Services
In-person and telehealth appointment availability depends on the service, scheduling and other factors.
*Individual Counseling - one-on-one therapy sessions between a client and a trained mental health professional.
CARE - Counselors in Academic Residence - licensed mental health professionals housed within the schools and colleges they serve. See information on the graduate school’s assigned CARE counselor here.
Group Counseling – one of the largest group counseling programs in the nation. Group options include support, psychoeducation, yoga, substance use, Voices Against Violence, mindful eating, support and skill-building and understanding self and others.
TimelyCare - a virtual 24/7 mental health platform providing immediate care, scheduled counseling, health coaching and self-care content. Providers offer support in 240+ languages. An extension of CMHC services.
*Psychiatric Services - psychiatric evaluation and recommend treatment.
Mindful Eating Team - support for students who have questions or concerns about their relationship with food and movement.
Community Counseling and Outreach Specialists - support and outreach for all student communities.
*Substance Use Support Team - support for students who have questions about their own or someone else's substance use.
*Services for survivors of sexual assault (Voices Against Violence) - individual, group and confidential advocacy appointments.
*Case Management - a resource to help students access campus and community services.
Brief Assessment and Referral Team - an intake team dedicated to connecting students with CMHC and off-campus mental health resources.
Integrated Health - collaboration between University Health Services and the Counseling and Mental Health Center. This program brings mental health providers to University Health Services.
*Access to these services begins with a phone call (512-471-3515, option #3) or an in-person screening at CMHC with a Brief Assessment and Referral Counselor. Individual counseling is the most requested service. Together, during the screening, the student and counselor will determine which of these services, or another service offered through CMHC is best for them.
Well-Being Resources
MindBody Labs - self-paced environments designed to help students explore resources for improving their emotional and physical health.
Thrive App - a free app designed to enhance well-being and help navigate through challenging times.
Longhorn Wellness Center - creating a culture of student and campus well-being through programs, education, health initiatives, student engagement and collaboration. Featured programs include the Longhorn SHARE Project: peer-to-peer non-clinical counseling, the mindful UT meditation program, Healthyhorns Sleep, the Longhorns Listen Suicide Prevention Program, and more.
Mental Health Assistance and Response Team (MHART)
This program brings together mental health professionals and specially trained law enforcement officers from the UT Police Department to respond to members of the UT community experiencing mental health crises.
Charges and Insurance
There are no charges for CMHC services except for psychiatry services, which are $10 per visit.
