Second Prototype Construction

Second Prototype:

The second prototype was the intended final prototype, however the mechanical function of the mechanism did not give the desired outputs. Therefore, changes were made, and the final design became the final prototype.

What didn't work on the Second Prototype:

• Design called for a link to be attached to the thumb to connect to the lower slider 
• Thumb link did not follow the thumb movement well
• Minimal movement of slider link with maximum thumb movement, not allowing the mechanism to be fully opened
• Mechanism design would also have to be changed if desired to be placed on another hand since only designed for activation by pulling
