Conclusion and Design Improvements
Problems we encountered in our design include stress fracture of the driving arm due to high motor speeds, inconvenient serviceability with unthreaded standoffs, and linear off track trajectory due to railing size issues. In terms of the driving link, solutions include usage of stronger material such as delrin and to face the driving shafts from a semi-circle to a square face in order to distribute the load more evenly. For the problem with serviceability, a solution would be to use threaded standoffs to allow for a more convenient disassembly. Lastly, a solution for the off path trajectory issues would be to create a tighter railing system to lock the rollers onto the track.
