Conclusion and Future Work - AS
Even though the scope of this project was limited due to COVID, I feel that I was able to apply my learnings over the course of this semester to create an effective mechanism. However, improvements can definitely be made. The biggest concern at this time is the motor's high speed (~380 RPM) and its impact on the mechanism. Since I did not have any way to gear it down, the mount moved a lot whenever the motor was running. My first step would be to buy some gears to slow down the rotation to something like 60 RPM. Afterwards, I would like to incorporate some laser-cut or 3D-printed pieces to prevent the mount from slipping on the surface it is resting on. Putting this system together was exciting and I look forward to improving my design in future!
