4. Manufacturing and Assembly - BD
I manufactured all my wooden and acrylic components using laser cutters. Then I used wood glue to fuse the sides of the box to the bottom piece and to fuse the sliding linkage to the lid. I created each joint using screws, washers, and locknuts. Screws were used as the pin joints, the pin-in slot joint, and the slider joint. Washers were added to each side of the pin in slot and slider joints to increase stability. Locknuts were used to minimize the effects of vibration on the joints.
Process:
- Laser-cut components
- Glue sides and bottom together
- Glue slider link and lid together
- Attach linkages to the slider link using screws, washers, and locknuts
- Attach linkages to side panels of the box using screws, washers, and locknuts
