JMP Installation
Step-by-step installation guide for UT ChE students enrolled in a course utilizing JMP
Once your EID has been submitted by your professor, you will need to complete the following steps:
NOTE: UTGUEST AND EDUROAM WIFI WILL NOT WORK. You must be connected to UTEXAS WIFI or with a VPN connection.
WINDOWS INSTRUCTIONS
- Map a drive to your computer using the following path in the "folder" field: \\austin.utexas.edu\disk\che-share\JMP\JMP17-Win\JMP\JMP_Pro\17_0\Windows .
The Drive letter doesn't matter. If you are unsure how to do this, read “how to map a drive Windows 10” here. (Mac users scroll down to the bottom of this page.) Make sure to uncheck "reconnect at login" and to check "connect as a different user".- For the username, enter austin\your EID e.g.,
- Note: Attempting this from on-campus will work best. If you are off-campus you must first follow these instructions to make a VPN connection, and then proceed with the instructions. VPN INSTRUCTIONS
- Once you successfully connect, you will see the following:
- Copy the LICENSE FILE folder and "jmppro_1700)win.exe" installer to your desktop, then run the installer file. Follow the installation prompts, accepting all default options.
- After JMP has installed and you start it, you will be prompted for a license. Browse to the LICENSE FILE folder and choose the license txt file inside.
- You may ignore the "customize your license" message.
Mac instructions:
- From the top Finder menu on your mac, select Go>Connect to Server. Enter the path below:
2. When prompted for username enter austin\eid e.g.,
3. Once connected, you will see two folders labeled "16_0" and 17_0". Select the version 17 folder and copy it to your computer's desktop. Once it has finished downloading, browse that folder until you get to the following sub-folder: "Macintosh\JMP\JMP_Pro\17_0\Macintosh" Run the "jmppro__1700__mac.dmg" installer file and follow the installation prompts.
4. After the software is installed, it will be in your applications folder. The first time it is started you will see the following message. Click "open license" and browse the 17_0 folder until you get here: Macintosh\LICENSE FILE, then select the license file listed there.
