Discussion Notes

  • Challenges/Tips:
    • Toddlers tastes change a lot and often and trying to keep up with those preferences can be difficult
    • It's tough to get a variety of food choices
    • Pressure Cooker meals
    • Some suggested making kids eat whatever parents are eating (when a bit older maybe)
    • Several people had kids with egg allergies, so we brainstormed a few ideas
      • Egg bagels
      • meatballs/meatloaf
    • Use the slow cooker.crock pot during the week
    • Central Market meals and add in smaller proteins and/or vegetables
    • Tricky when kids have different preferences/eating times
    • Bag of frozen meat balls-easy to make a quick meal at night, so have them in your freezer!
    • No thank you rule: encourage kids to take atleast one bite before saying they don't like something. After one bite, if they don't like it, they can say "no thank you" but they may end  up liking it!
    • Cook all meat (pork tenderloin, chicken breast, brisket, shredded pork in crockpot) on Sunday and then make the veggies/fruit the day of!
    • Big bags of Costco frozen veggies (usually are organic) are a good value!
    • For kids who struggle eating veggies, try a green smoothie (tastes like fruit, but has kale and spinach in it to get the veggies)
    • Pick one night each week for a designated meal (Taco Tuesday, Sandwich night, breakfast for dinner)
    • Where do people get recipes from:
      • Cookinglight.com
      • Allrecipes.com
      • Facebook!
      • Betty Crocker
      • Grocery/Shopping Apps
        • Shopper app (can send recipes from these websites to send the ingredients to your list)
        • Our Groceries
      • InstaCart
