I. Introduction & Background

In America, avocado usage in recipes has seen an increase in recent years. These range from avocado toast to chocolate avocado pudding. The debate about whether it is a fruit or a vegetable is not the only issue it has caused across the nation (and even the world). While removing the large pit in the middle of the avocado, many people have used too much force and carelessness, resulting in injuries. Doctors and professionals have coined this injury, “Avocado hand” and have seen thousands of cases. We seek to create an automated system that can safely remove the pit of an avocado with no harm to the user.
