Much of the time when there's an assignment type (atype) discrepancy between instructor and student view, it can be traced back to a missing grades available date.
1.masq as instructor on sys admin page, masq tab
2. look for any missing grades available dates for assignments (or get assignments that are showing differently from prof)
3. make sure it's okay to enter in date (usually solutions date, but check with prof first)
