When a user account is moved all of their currently registered devices, data archives and storage consumption moves to the destination org.

  • User moves between most department orgs must be requested from and completed by UTBackup service admins.

Preparations to Move a User

  • The user should contact their previous department and:
    • ask if the devices attached to their account may be deactivated and data archives deleted, or
    • whether the department wants to retain the data archives
If Data Archives Will Be Retained:
  • Each device should be de-authorized
  • Afterward another user may then adopt the previous device and its data archive, see Adopting a computer for details.
  • The user account may be moved (contact UTBackup Admins)
  • After adoptions have taken place, the obsolete devices may be deactivated which marks their archives for deletion.
If Data Archives Will Not Be Retained:
  • Deactivate all attached devices and their archives will be marked for deletion.
  • Move the user account (contact UTBackup Admins)
