When setting up a meeting or meeting series that will have guests from outside of UT Austin, follow the below steps you can take in Canvas to ensure they can access the meeting. For a meeting series, you need only change the settings once, and it will apply to all future meetings. 


Step 1: To update the security preference, click on the meeting or meeting series that you need outside guests to attend.

Step 3:  The setting that we need to change is in the security section. "Require authentication to join" is selected, but it's currently limited to UT Austin accounts.



Step 4: Scroll down and click the "Edit this Meeting" button.


Step 5: The checked box next to "Require authentication to join" is unchangeable, but the dropdown below it, though greyed out, is changeable. You will select "Sign in to Zoom (Guest).


Step 6:  After changing the authentication type, click the blue Save button at the bottom of the page. If editing a meeting series, this change will be made to all occurrences.
