Wild Wild West- Sanil Hattangadi
From the Karakuri book, a book that allows us to build paper models that move, I decided to produce the Wild Wild West mechanism. The mechanism allows the user to rotate a crank making it look like the train is moving. To do this, the mechanism employs the use of straight bevel gears allowing rotation in one plane to be converted to a rotation in another plane. The user turns a crank which then causes the pinion (driving gear) to turn. The pinion then drives the other gear (driven gear; which is perpendicular to the pinion) to turn which rotates a turntable making it look like the train is moving in circles around the small town.
