I. Introduction and Background - JT
I created a 5-bar slotted slider mechanism for my final course project. This is an important mechanism that can have a variety of useful applications, so it was definitely a worthwhile project to invest in and successfully complete. This mechanism is able to quickly return a slider block through a linear slider path, and is also extremely valuable and useful in the sense that this mechanism converts a constant angular input velocity for the first input link into a linear output velocity for the slider block.
My design for this mechanism was based very closely to the 5-bar slotted slider mechanism that is shown in the figure below:
