3.3 Implementation
The Implementation section encompasses three key pages: Electromechanical Design, Fabrication and Assembly, and Mechanical Design.
Electromechanical Design: This section describes the decision to create an inverted table structure to house electronics discreetly beneath the main table. Velcro was utilized for easy access when necessary.
Fabrication and Assembly: The team initially conducted test cuts to determine the optimal fit for laser-cut pieces, ensuring precision and functionality. Variations in hole sizes were tested to find the ideal tolerance for components like bearings and buttons. After adjustments, the CAD models were updated for laser cutting. During assembly, issues with weight distribution were addressed by adding a roller to improve stability and motion. Multiple design iterations were conducted to refine the mechanism.
Mechanical Design: This stage involved transitioning from prototype CAD designs to a finalized mechanical design. The process included analyzing the initial design's feasibility and implementing necessary adjustments for functionality and aesthetics.
