Conclusions and Future Work.
The kinematic analysis and MATLAB simulation for the 5-bar slotted slider mechanism seem to be accurate when compared to the physical prototype. The physical prototype works fine in general, but it does have some minor issues. There is a bit of wobbliness especially in the last two links. This is largely because the post screws that connect these links can not be fully tightened. When they are fully tightened, the links do not wobble but they also lose their ability to rotate relative to one another, which prevents the mechanism from working as intended. Finding a way to resolve this issue would be a good way to improve the design. Another possible addition to the mechanism would be to power the mechanism with a motor. The motor could be placed on top of the wooden block, and the post screw making up the pin joint between the first ground piece and the crank could be replaced by the axle of the motor.
