6 CONCLUSIONS AND FUTURE WORK
We were able to successfully create a mechanism that was able to remove a crown cap from a glass bottle and tilt the bottle to pour the drink. The quick return mechanism powered by the servo was able to provide just enough torque to remove the bottle cap. Our Geneva mechanism worked well to pause the tilting of the bottle until the cap had been removed.
Unfortunately due to our design our mechanism was a bit unreliable, but we foresee many improvements and developments that can be implemented to improve its performance. Some things we aim to improve are the torque provided by the quick return mechanism and a more robust gear system linked to the Geneva mechanism. Additionally a redesign for improvements in tolerances, specifically for the fasteners attached to the gears would tremendously improve our mechanism’s performance.
