BAR Process
When an employee is terminated with a secondary reason of "Not Eligible for Employment", this means the employee won't be eligible for reemployment ever again at the University, and has been approved to be marked as such via the BAR process. This typically happens when there is major violation of policy or conduct like sexual harassment, theft, violence etc. Â
The SWS partner will work in close collaboration with the department on this process. The termination letter will include a statement, which explicitly states that the employee cannot work at UT again. The termination letter must be approved by the VP of HR. The SWS partner will then put a code on the employee’s profile in Workday that prevents their rehire. Although, nothing prevents the employee from applying for future UT jobs, the hiring department will not be able to move forward with the hire due to that code.
Considering there are only two options for termination - eligible or ineligible for reemployment - the hiring department should always ask for the employee file and check references.
