CMB 4 Studios - Lighting Board - ETC Element - Lighting Workflow



To use the mobile Eos computer for lighting workflows, please schedule an appointment with the Studio Manager to review and schedule delivery of the system to your studio.

Hardware and Project Setup



Plug the grey AC power attached to the mobile desk into a stable power source.  In this instance, we are plugging it into the convenience rack power strip in the AV rack of the studio.

Turn on the compact computer located under the desk by pressing its power button. 

It will illuminate when powered ON.

Turn on the switch in the back of the Element console to turn it on.

Once the computer has booted, it will auto-launch the EOS software. 



Additionally, the last show file will be loaded automatically.

The first step is to create a new show file to work with. 



Press the F9 key on the keyboard to display and expand the Browser window.



Choose >File >New

Double-click "New" to create a new show file. 



If a confirmation window appears, click OK.

Next got to >File>Merge



Merge the patch data from our master show file with our newly created show file. 



Using the disclosure triangle for the Merge menu of the Browser window,

navigate through the My Documents and ETC>EOS>Templates







Double-click on the most recent studio Master Template show file to initiate the merge.

Do you really want to merge items into your show??  

>select 3 Things Patch, Groups and Fixtures selection

and press OK to complete the merge.



A new window will confirm the success of the merge.

Next save the show



>File

>Save As

Using the disclosure triangle for the Save As Menu, navigate to the Desktop folder.



Double-click on the Desktop folder to initiate the Save As command.

When prompted do you really want to save click OK

Just start typing what you want to name your show to give your show file a distinguishable name and

press the Enter key to confirm the Save.



In this instance, we've labeled our show file as "Show File GRUY - 343 - 4B Final Project"



A new window will confirm the success of the save.

Lastly, open your newly saved file by using the disclosure triangle for the Open Menu, and navigating to the Desktop folder (or wherever you chose to save your file).



Double-click on your newly saved file to open the file.

Click on Continue w/o Saving

When prompted, select press OK to open the file.



A new window will confirm the success of the Open command and your saved show with your custom name will open

Locate the provided DMX cable coiled on the mobile desk. 





Make sure it's plugged into the A "Universe" plug under the desk

Locate the black MAIN DMX box next to the A/V racks. 



Plug the DMX cable into the Male port labeled "DMX IN".

Note - the green light on the MAIN DMX Preset box should be replaced with a red light as shown in the referenced image.  This indicates the Eos software is overriding the preset box.

We are now ready to start working with the current patches and addresses assigned in the studio





Keyboard press F1 for live mode

You will see the 3 groups

700's

800's and

900's

Clicking at the icon on the top right also will access live mode

Every studio has 3 groups of lights



Group 1 is overhead/mood lighting (LED PAR) that can be changed to any color you want

Group 2 is the wide panel soft lights (CL Soft Light) that can be changed to any color you want

Group 3 are the spot lights (VL Fresnel) that can be either warm or cold white lighting.

How to control Intensity and Color



The mode here will show the groups of lights so you can start adjusting

We'll start with group 3 these lights are the spots that you can adjust intensity and color temp

Shift click to select 701 to 705 or if you only want to adjust some of them select the ones you want to adjust



Select the lights you want to adjust Yellow = Selected

Display shown here is vertical - might look like this

Same grouping is 700's 800's and 900's



Select the lights you want to adjust Yellow = Selected

Select a light or a group of lights

Ex: to turn on two spot lights select 701 and 703



Select the lights you want to adjust Yellow = Selected

Press F7

You will get a software version of turning up the intensity or Color Temp. on the touch screen or using the mouse scroll wheel

You must turn up intensity first then adjust color temp.



Press Max to turn on and Min to turn off



You will see the lights respond to your adjustments



Next Group would be

Group 2 these are the wide panel soft lights that can be changed to any color you want #801 to 806 - horizontal view or vertical view

Shift click to select them all or if you only want to adjust some of them select the ones you want to adjust

Example Vertical View



Select the lights you want to adjust Yellow = Selected

Then when F7 is pressed you will get access to all the color, temp and intensity controls

First turn the lights on by clicking MAX on the keyboard or whatever intensity you'd like using the scroll wheel

Then you can control the color temperature Press Temp and CCT



Then click the +

key shown here by the

Color Temperature Temp



Once the little icon is selected



The color temperature scroll wheel will pop up and use that to control the color temp

To adjust the color of the lights click back on that Plus icon

Then make sure Temp + and RGBWC is selected



Then use the soft keys shown here to change color



Use the scroll wheels for each color or the color picker



You will see the lights respond to your adjustments

Next Group to go over how to adjust is Group 1 is Overhead lighting that can be changed to any color you want 

901 to 914- Horizontal View



Select the lights you want to adjust Yellow = Selected

Vertical View

Select the lights you want to adjust Yellow = Selected

First turn the lights on by clicking MAX on the keyboard or whatever intensity you'd like using the scroll wheel

Then use the soft keys shown here to change color



Use the scroll wheels for each color or the color picker



You will see the lights respond to your adjustments

To Save

Click on F9





Choose

Save As

Navigate to your file name and click on Enter

Save with Augment3d model



Click OK

Then click on the windows Icon

Then choose Shut Down

Choose Shut Down anyway



Unplug what you plugged in and put away.





























Each of these Channels controls the color and intensity values for each instrument on the set wall.  Here is a breakdown:

This is all 4B news desk stuff only specific for 4B

150-155 = Light Box Stack, Stage Left (Bottom to Top)

156-161 = Light Box Stack, Stage Right (Bottom to Top)

162 = Top Rails, Wall A

163 = Bottom Rails, Wall A

164 = Top Rails, Wall B

165 = Bottom Rails, Wall B

166 = Top Rails, Wall C

167 = Bottom Rails, Wall C

168 = Top Rails, Wall D

169 = Bottom Rails, Wall D



To select a group hit the G key on the computer keyboard one time picture here

Then press the group you want to select

Ex: G 1 enter selects group one

To bring up the lights to full

Enter G 1 A F (group one at full)

or for lights at 50 percent  G 1 A 5



To turn all the lights off press Shift and Backspace to deselect all the fixtures and then

computer key "N" 0 enter on the computer keyboard to turn off all the lights
