Final Exams & Reviews

CODE Statement on Final Reviews

At the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture, the public presentation and display of the work in the design studio is highly valued and is an essential component of a design education. The school values and expects a considered and respectful dialogue - whether spirited debate or sober discussion - during these public presentations. Our paramount desire, both for our students and to set an example for the profession, is to foster dialogue that embodies a culture of respect and open inquiry from all participants.

Final Exam Policies

The University provides Final Exam policies in the General Information Catalog.

Final Exam Scheduling

Texas One Stop and the Office of the Registrar provide Final Exam schedules. The Course Scheduler sends an email each semester about scheduling final exams. Final Exam Scheduling will happen before the start of each term. For example, in Fall 2022, the Final Exam Reporting timeline is August 1 through 12, before the first day of classes. Final exams are optional; If you choose not to administer a final exam, you can disregard emails concerning final exams. If you choose to administer a final exam for your course, you must respond to the Course Scheduler’s email to schedule your exam. The university has default final exam times for all courses, but you may choose your final exam time from a list of options if the exam takes place on specific final exam administration days. You can also find a final exam schedule for a class by searching the unique number.

Studio Final Review and Portfolio Reviews

The SOA publishes a schedule for final studio reviews prior to the beginning of each semester. Final reviews typically occur on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of the last full week of classes for studios. Graduate and undergraduate portfolio reviews occur the week following final studio reviews.

All design studio faculty teaching studios during the semester shall be available for these end-of-semester reviews, including during the first day of final exams.
