The UT Austin School of Architecture Build Lab is located on the first floor of Goldsmith Hall and houses the UT Austin School of Architecture's Wood, Metal, and Casting Shops. Build Lab hours are Mon-Thurs 9-9, Friday 9-6, and Sunday 10-3 unless posted here.

Spanning 6,600 square feet, this dynamic workspace is for S.o.A.’s makers, builders, and designers. It features dedicated areas for casting concrete and plaster, plastics fabrication, a metalworking shop, a massive wood shop, and a spacious 45’x35’ classroom area with 25 stations for hands-on learning. There’s also a specialized finish room for perfecting your projects.
Inside, the shop boasts cutting-edge tools, including two Shopbot CNC Routers with a 96”x60” bed, two Sawstop table saws, a high-performance 24” planer, two Vacuum forming machines, along with a variety of other essential equipment to tackle nearly any project.
The 1,800 square-foot exterior deck offers ample space for outdoor work, with 220v and 110v electrical service and water to support any need. The entire space is seamlessly connected by two hydraulic elevators, ensuring quick and easy access to every part of the facility. Whether you're crafting intricate models, building experimental structures, or exploring new creative possibilities, this space has it all to bring your ideas to life.
