Example 4.2

Question: In your C/S/VP, how many benefits eligible females with a Bachelor's degree earn between $45,000 and $75,000? What is their average age and average longevity?


►       Start with the Benefits Eligibility filter in the upper left corner. Click on the down arrow and select Benefits Eligible.

►       Move down to the Gender filter, click on the down arrow and select Female.

►       Move to the Salary Lower Limit filter (lower right among the filters), click on the existing value and type 40,000, hit enter.  In the Salary Upper Limit box, click on the existing value and type 80,000, hit enter. In the Select Salary Increment box, click on the existing value and type 5,000, hit Enter.

►       Move to the Educational Attainment graph. Click on the BA/BS bar for your C/S/VP panel.

►       Move to the Salary Range graph in the lower right, mouse over the columns for $45,000, $50,000, $55,000. $60,000, $65,000, and $70,000, note the number of employees for each column and sum them.

►       The average age and average longevity are displayed below the Headcount by Age and Longevity in Years graphs.

►       To use the Table view to answer this question, as above, go through the filtering for benefits eligibility and gender, adjust the salary range settings, then go to the upper right of the dashboard and select the Table button. The graphs will turn into tables.

  • Move to the Educational Attainment table. Click on the number of employees count or percentage in the BA/BS column for your C/S/VP panel.
  • Move back to the Salary Range table in the lower right, sum the number of employees in the columns from $45,000 to $70,000.

►       Print the dashboard if desired.

►       Click the Revert button on the top or bottom of the page to undo the filters.
