Windows Servers Support Policies

  1. LAITS' Server team primarily supports the latest Windows Server operating systems, including, currently, Windows Server 2022.  Older operating systems are supported until they reach end-of-life status, determined by Microsoft, at which point the server(s) must either be upgraded or migrated to a new server.
  2. All LAITS-supported Windows servers will be automatically patched monthly and/or when required by the Information Security Office. The exception to this is if known-issues are found with a patch, at which point, maintenance may, at LAITS' discretion, be postponed to allow time for Microsoft to issue a fix for the patch. An email notification of upcoming maintenance window(s) will be sent either at the beginning of the month or at least five days prior to systems maintenance unless the ISO indicates that a patch must be applied sooner.
  3. All LAITS-supported Windows servers must have a laitsadmin account to facilitate systems administration by the LAITS Server team.
  4. Customers who have admin rights on their respective system(s) are responsible for any configuration changes made to their systems. In addition, updates to any third-party applications installed by the customer are the responsibility of the customer.
  5. All LAITS-supported Windows servers will have the Nagios monitoring software installed & configured.
