IRB Getting Started

The Office of Research Support and Compliance (RSC) partners with researchers to maintain the integrity of research at The University of Texas at Austin. For more information on IRB and getting started, please see the helpful links below:

• Students (under the supervision of a faculty member) can complete a class project or pilot study on their dissertation topic BEFORE their proposal is approved.

• Students can never begin any research, even recruitment, before receiving IRB approval for which the faculty sponsor/Principal Investigator (PI) must sign.
