SRR Discussion | Overall Comments Utilize hand-calculations and intuition prior to running FEA (i.e. FEA is a validation tool, not a tool start a design) Starting a welding training schedule
|
Ergo SRR specifics | Carbon Fiber is not the most viable material in terms of cost and usability for ergo (i.e Fiberglass is cheaper and just a usable for the steering wheel, CF maybe uncomfortable for seat) Need to really reflect on how it will be used/if it will be worth the cost
Ergo Jig is a good idea → need to further reflect on how we collect driver data/bounding box limits We need to set a clear data gathering methodology to make sure data is consistent and accurate Also may need to go more in-depth into leg length and torso height, rather than just “height”
Need a way to test egress before building the car Need a way of measuring the average braking force of our drivers, relative to adrenaline
|
Frame SRR specifics | Setting up a proper composite chassis research proposal I.e. having a clear theory/goal, prior research as to why we want to pursue it, plan as how we want to manufacture and test composites, etc.
Beam elements absolutely must be used in for FEA simulations Simulations have no need to take hours of load time, focus on beam elements, quick iteration time, etc.
Need to set a date/plan on finalizing a roll cage design/dimension soon When planning out bounding boxes/references for frame sketch, make them into solid bodies
|
Workday Plans | Ergo: Continue working on pedal box redesigns for Daybreak, have some sort of tangible results/prototypes soon Finalize ergo jig plans, come up with materials budget Compile and create sizing plan for ergo driver model and bounding box Materials research?
Frame: Continue compiling dimensions and dependency values (suspension hardpoints, length and width, roll cage dimensions, etc.) Discuss and finalize architecture selection (multi level frame, 3-wheel car frame design, etc.) Assign research tasks to members on composites research and solids hand calculations Plan out design task breakdown (how are we splitting up frame jig, frame design, etc.)
