10/12 Workday Recap
Recap:
see dynamics assignment from the week (from slack):
Suspension: Y'all already have tasks from Kayla about designing your own suspension systems so focus on that and learn vsusp.
Watch this bolted joints video IT MAY GENUINELY BE THE BEST VIDEO I HAVE WATCHED FOR ENGINEERING: The Incredible Strength of Bolted Joints
Read The Winning Solar car: The Winning Solar Car chapter 9 and 10
If you go to our confluence under dynamics documentation and then workday plans, you can find links to those chapters specifically under the workday plans for this workday 10/12/2024
Else you can go to this link of our dynamics books instead: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1TETPwxgqnES9q2Npb47z9do9wXFO87T5?usp=sharing
From what y'all said during workday, y'all found the Model Mania fun, so here are two options you can do:
2008 which should be the easier of the two:
2020 which should be the harder of the two:

Do whichever one you want and if you have time you can just do both. Don't worry if you aren't able to do the hard one, everyone is at different places with their CAD skill, so just do the one that you can do but make sure it's still challenging you so you can learn from it.
Feel free to let me know if this is too much work. And remember if y'all ever need someone to talk to don't hesitate to talk to us about anything that's bothering y'all.
Please fill out this anonymous workday feedback form to let us know what you thought about the workday and any feedback you have for us. Everyone, who attended, filling it out would def be very appreciated: https://forms.office.com/r/EL5GiAKqYK
I went over how front suspension geometry reference sketches work - how to insert the master model to make parts
Members all worked on vsusp and then made good progress on their reference sketches / skeleton models in solidworks
From Kayla:
I will be putting up all my notes and documentation today including:
Beginning bearing selection for DAYBREAK
Bearing calculations - starting point - not too thorough yet
Double wishbone reference sketch / master modeling references - will be doing another explanation at workday if that is helpful
initial calculations for TW and lateral acceleration
spring rate and damper coefficient notes from Jacob discussion
previous notes I made on decoupled suspension
previous notes on more general energy losses and ride frequencies from suspension
^ will talk through some of these at workday btw
I have uploaded notes on:
Combustion’s Corner balancing methods
Combustion’s Control arm manufacturing methods
I will talk about ASC suspension basics on Workday
I will talk a bit more about the reference sketches at workday ( should you find it helpful)
Assignments and updates:
Carter will be on FEA and continuing new gen research and suspension properties
working on blocking method in solidworks to isolate movements
might present to us how he did it ^^
La’akea was sick - she will catch up on the dynamics recap, work on the starter project on her own
continue understanding general suspension geometry for double wishbone and the loads being places on pushrods
Be prepared to meet with composites on workday
Manas and Oliver → Daybreak machining and repairing
Bearing research and calculations assigned to both
Be prepared on workday to dedicate time to looking at bearings
Manas - Trailing arm research assigned still - will work with Jonathan from Unsprung over the course of the semester
Be ready to meet with one another on workday to begin research together
By next workday (other than above):
Everyone will have watched ASC
We will go over it in detail - I will present some key points
Everyone will have finished watching SRR
REFERENCE SKETCHES - work in progress
Begin working on the assembly / parts if a that point
