Punctuation

    1. For marking the ends of utterances, use either a period (.) or a question mark (question)
    2. Commas (,) do not affect analysis, but can be used to clarify lists, appositives, or phrase boundaries
      1. Examples
        1. we had bread, olives, and fish.
        2. I ran into Henry, the local mechanic, who sold me the parts.
    3. *apostrophes:
      1. are okay for monolingual English samples and Catalan samples
    4. Do not use any other punctuation as many other punctuation symbols are used by the program to indicate particular code, such as the colon .
    5. Catalan:
      1. use apostrophes (') – decision made 20231107 in Teams.
      2. use interpunct (·) for words with ela geminada (l·l) – ignore CLAN: Illegal character. Please re-enter it using Unicode standard.(86) -– decision made 20240426 in Teams.
      3. Do NOT remove dashes, transcribe with dashes:

        No, we keep the dashes in the transcriptions, removing them would remove morphological information that is needed to compute number of clitics.
