Team 21 - Conclusions and Future Work
This assignment was difficult but doable. The initial struggle came in the synthesis of the four-bar design that would allow for adequate horizontal and vertical movements generated from the motor and via the bevel gears. Another difficulty was making sure everything in the assembly fit together properly within the helmet and with that came the managing of friction of the pieces when moving together. Size accuracy was an issue at times as the printing is not perfect and dimensions were slightly offset up or down to get products to print at a perfect size. During the assembly, the pins we used to connect the four bars started to fracture and fall apart, making the final prototype incomplete. In a future iteration of this project, we would have prevented all of the previous problems by finding better materials to use for our connections, and we would have tried to make a helmet that is wearable, not just a desktop demonstration.
