Updates from the field: OCLC, Alma/Primo feature updates, ELUNA community updates, etc. | Melanie, Benn | OCLC updates: - OCLC announcement 6/19: WorldCat Entities URIs now automatically added to WorldCat records for newly controlled headings
- New daily process automatically inserts the relevant $1 URI link or updates the existing link in $1 (if needed), thus keeping records current and enriched with the latest WorldCat Entities URIs.
- The enriched data is included in WorldCat records exported using OCLC cataloging applications (like Connexion)
- Libraries can also receive enriched records by enabling the WorldCat Updates feature “Receive updates when $1 is modified” in WorldShare Collection Manager.
- >> is UTL seeing these URIs come through Connexion exports to Alma?
- >> should UTL enable WorldCat Updates feature in WorldShare Collection Manager?
- OCLC Cataloging Community meeting Friday 6/21 included OCLC updates on linked data strategy, WorldCat Entities, and Meridian
- OCLC announcement 6/24: New position paper articulates the value of linked data to the library community
Alma/Primo feature updates:
ELUNA community updates: - ELUNA Linked Open Data Community of Practice Notes about Ex Libris LD Features in May Release 6/19:
- Noted community feedback on Person Entities Feature on Primo listserv, coordinating with IGELU and ELUNA Primo Working Groups for further discussion about feature with Ex Libris
- lots of inconsistencies and unexpected results with name searching and how autocomplete works
- no option to configure person cards per view - this may complicate things for us, since we have developed a custom view for a grant project - see Idea Exchange entry
- desire to limit to just library catalog scope b/c titles in CDI aren't attached to authories, and hence won't link/display person cards
- desire to control/customize what all is displayed on the Person Page in Primo
- Library staff at Victoria University of Wellington have written some interesting documentation at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:ExLibris-Primo
- Noted Ex Libris is using Sinopia Development environment for Alma's BF support features; updates to that environment may affect data stability.
- >> Does this mean Alma BF data is being stored in Siniopia Development environment?
