College of Education Web Server (www.edb.utexas.edu)
The web server employs a security mechanism which will automatically block access to the server from your computer if you perform 6 failed login attempts within a 10 minute window. The block will remain in effect for 30 minutes after which the block on your computer will be automatically removed. If you inadvertently block yourself you will need to wait 30 minutes before trying to log into the server again or you may contact ITO Technical Support at help@education.utexas.eduto request a manual removal of your computer's block. Please have your computer's IP address ready if you contact Technical Support. You can obtain your computer's IP address by visiting the URLhttp://www.whatismyip.com.

Connection Methods
SFTP
- ENCRYPTED - SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) is the preferred method of connection to the server. SFTP encrypts your entire connection to the server so that your username and password as well as your website files are protected from being exposed on unsecured networks. You can use any SFTP compatible program to connect to the server such as Fetch for macOS or Bitvise for Windows. You'll need to connect to the web server with the following settings:
- Server Address: www.edb.utexas.edu
- Port: 53622
/wiki/spaces/coeito/pages/76219843
- ENCRYPTED - These instructions are for configuring your Dreamweaver program to connect to the server using SFTP.
- Server Address: www.edb.utexas.edu:53622
- Enable the SFTP option in Dreamweaver as shown in the tutorial. If you don't see this option then your Dreamweaver program is one of the older versions that did not support SFTP. If your Dreamweaver program is too old, you will need to either upgrade it to a version of Dreamweaver that does support SFTP or use the Filezilla SFTP connection method explained in the previous tutorial.
